There are 8 main Lalaloopsy dolls (plus the limited edition twins)
with more characters added all the time. Each doll has a special style and personality. The idea behind the dolls
having their own unique style and personality stems from the original idea of a raggedy doll toy.
Raggedy dolls were usually made from items that had been discarded or left over from making a dress or some
other form of clothing. They were home made dolls that would be fashioned together using left over fabric, the odd
button here and there, strands of wool and other bits and pieces. Consequently the doll might look a bit raggedy or
second hand. However, since the doll was hand made by a mother or Grandmother, the doll was often highly cherished
by the lucky little girl that owned her. She was totally unique just like we all are.
Part of the myth and charm of the Lalaloopsy dolls story is that each doll
is made from some leftover or discarded fabric. This fabric has a definite theme and this theme influences the
personality of the doll that is made from it.
